How to Hit your Macros with just a Microwave

I honestly have no idea where the inspiration for this post came from – but here goes!

Have you ever had to stay in a hotel, friends house, or another less-than-qualified kitchen to cook a proper meal?
#
I’ve totally been there! And it’s definitely a crap-shoot when you are staying at someone else’s house, or perhaps you are stuck in a hotel room with just a mini fridge and microwave…
#
WTF do you eat??
#
I’m a creature of habit and love eating the same things because I KNOW they make my guts, energy, and brain feel great. So I try my hardest to control the ingredients which means NOT eating out for every meal and INSTEAD cooking things myself.

But alas, no kitchen!

In the case I find myself in this situation, I’ll pick up some frozen goodies, steamers veggies, and low-maintenance food items just to steer clear of ‘fancy’ cooking requirements while also not dirtying a bunch of dishes.

Breakfast: Good Food Made Simple breakfast burritos, egg scramble, etc. (found in freezer section)
#
Snacks: apples, bananas, single serve Greek yogurts, jerky, single serve almond butter packets, and trail mix (think ‘grab and go,’ super easy, portable, and no cleanup or mess)
#
Lunch: you can easily get away with buying a salad heaped with lots of protein at any joint that serves food (I always ask for double meat – those skimpy bastards). Oh, and get a side of kombucha for the belly. If you’re a badass athlete, you will need to probably get an entree with meat, starchy carbs, and veg to fuel that bod.

And if you’re a snack whore, like myself, you’ll need yet another snack…you can do a protein bar (Muscle Up bars, Rx bars, and Luna bars are some of my favs)

Dinner: you can do another frozen meal like this: Evol single serving nutrition boals and Veggie Steamers
which require no plates OR you can try your hand at another restaurant meal – to play is safe, order a lean steak, grilled asparagus with a side of tators.

Frozen meals aren’t the 100% best choice, but it sure as hell beats chowing down on random stale crackers and spray cheese in your brother’s pantry…
