Leaders Cannot Be Easily Offended

Leaders cannot afford to be easily offended.
When I’m doing shit that is going to change the world, I…
draw fire
am criticized
am second-guessed
falsely accused
and judged for my motives
This is when I know I’m on the right path. That I’m drawing your attention. That I’m going against the grain. That I’m challenging you and your cozy status.
This is how I know I’m going to fucking change the world.
Look, offenses are inevitable. They must come. People offend us by what they do and by what they don’t do. They subconsciously project their own insecurities into the world. I understand that completely…I was there once, too. Which is why I give people the benefit of the doubt…most of the time.
Offenses can also be good for us. So when people make judgments towards me, I know that there is a bigger picture, a bigger purpose for the criticism.
I know I have no business caring what you think about me. It’s a waste of my precious time. I am able to recognize whether your accusation is meant for my growth or for my degradation. I have the ability to remove my lenses and see your comment for what it is. And that’s why I rarely get offended or give a shit about you say.
Being offended is a choice. There are legitimate times in life to be angry. Anger is an emotion we show others when we have blatantly been violated; that our boundaries have been breached. The issue becomes when we are fast to anger and let it chronically fester inside us.
In all honesty, I do get angry when you falsely accuse me of doing wrong or tell me I have no right to be the person that I have become. After all, who are you to judge? But it seems that I am always able to quickly subside the anger, because I know who I am, I know what I’m here to do, and something you say cannot pierce that shield.
Not now, not ever.
My purpose in life is to share my story and help and empower as many people as I can through what I know about fitness, nutrition, and mindset.
So go ahead and keep the objections coming! Each time I get stronger. Each time I get more resilient. And each time I grow more powerful.
Leaders cannot afford to be easily offended, so go out there and do your thing and make no apologies.
