When CrossFit Doesn’t Love you Back

Sooo I discontinued my CrossFit membership 😵
#
Not because of the gym itself…I LOVE THE GYM and all its people.
#
And definitely not because I don’t love CrossFit…we all know I’m obsessed!
#
No, it’s because CrossFit doesn’t love me back 😪
#
I’ve been trying to make this one-sided relationship work for the past year and we can’t seem to come to a compromise.
#
See, a year ago I was a burnt out mess of an ‘athlete’ – weight gain, depression, no motivation, declining fitness and strength…
#
I guess the last 20 years of being an asshole to my body finally caught up with me and CF was the last straw the broke my back (figuratively speaking…)
#
So after spending the last year recovering, dialing things way back and making some major life-changing decisions (which are uncomfortable!), here I am still not quite happy with my health and well being.
#
I decided that even though I was lifting heavy and metconning 2-3 times per week (which is laughable compared to my 10+ sessions per week in the past), I was still puffy and fatigued after I trained. Bleh.
#
So here we are back to the drawing board…my goal is not to compete or win or be the best anymore. It’s to feel happy, fit (enough), strong (enough), and fit my cute butt into my cute little jeans without having to make a scene 🤭
#
We’re still figuring out how that looks on paper, but for right now I just do what i feel like doing. 😲
#
I make sure to walk my babies for an hour at noon, then either take them for a trail run in the evening or play around with some @paragonperformancetraining at our home gym. That’s it folks.
#
Will I lose some squat strength? Ya. Will I keep up my Fran time? No. Will my skills get a lil’ rusty? You bet. But those things don’t define me anymore, I’m passing on the torch!
#
So maybe this gets you to think about how you’d like to feel about yourself on the daily. And maybe question whether your current life is offering that to you. Or maybe you’re just waiting for it to magically happen doing the same thing you’ve always done…like I did 🙋🏼‍♀️
#
Because man, it feels damn good being perfectly happy being perfectly average and having fun. Happy Saturday loves✌🏼
